Self Care for Life

NHS guidance on looking after minor illnesses and long term conditions and tips on gaining and maintaining good physical and mental well being

Important points for the vulnerable:

  • Keep warm - main room and bedroom temperature should be at least 18C

  • If you start to feel unwell, even if it's just a cough or cold, get help from your pharmacist or doctor quickly to prevent the condition getting worse

  • Always take prescribed medicines as directed. If you feel you need to take them differently get advice from your doctor or pharmacist first

  • Look out for people who may need extra help. It's a good idea to check on the elderly and infirm daily if you can, especially if they live alone. If you can't see them daily perhaps other friends and neighbours would be happy to help.
